Colder weather has brought with it another surge in the COVID-19 pandemic, and with it, growing concerns about the safety of front-line caregivers and those they care for. NextStep’s National COVID-Ready Caregiver Certification is designed to give caregivers one of the most powerful (and reusable!) pieces of PPE — knowledge.
The National COVID-Ready Caregiver Certification course can be completed online or with a mobile device and offers actionable information to prepare caregivers for the COVID-19 challenges of the coming months. Caregivers learn through a series of short videos — most of them three minutes or less — that can be completed at the learner’s individual pace.
During the course, learners have the opportunity to hear from expert instructors like Dr. Vin Gupta (a pulmonary and intensive care physician and medical contributor to NBC News) on topics ranging from identifying COVID-19 symptoms to common PPE mistakes.
More than 20,000 caregivers have completed the National COVID-Ready Caregiver Certification to date, and 10,000 more are on their way to certification. Graduates and their employers say the course has given them the tools necessary to keep both caregivers and clients safe.
"We have had no cases in our facility and we attribute that to the knowledge and training we received from the COVID-Ready Certification Course from NextStep,” says Larisa Y., house manager at ALS Care Adult Foster Home.
November is National Home Care and Hospice Month, and the NextStep team wants to ensure that every caregiver has access to the information they need to stay safe and healthy through the winter.
