The NextStep Washington Placement Process

Ashley Evangelista, NextStep Account Manager
November 10, 2021

Phase 1: Get Interview Ready

The first phase in the job placement process is finding the perfect match between you and one of our employer partners!

  • Prepare by practicing your interview responses with friends, pulling together documentation, thinking of questions to ask your interviewer and reviewing the company’s website.
  • Arrive on time to make a good impression whether in person or online.
  • Communicate promptly before and after the interview. You must respond to all NextStep employer partner communication within 24 hours.
  • Ask your mentor if you have questions!

Stay NextStep eligible! Don’t forget, you’re required to show up for every scheduled interview!

Phase 2: Complete the Background Check Process

Once you know which employer partner you’ll be working for, there are some logistics that need to be taken care of prior to onboarding.

  • Submit all requested paperwork to your new employer promptly.
  • Be patient. The background check process can take a week or longer.
  • Communicate with your new employer regularly so everyone is on the same page.
  • Ask your mentor if you have questions!

Phase 3: Onboarding

This is the exciting part! Thanks to all your hard work and dedication, you get to start work as a certified nursing assistant!

  • Confirm your orientation date.
  • Finish and submit any remaining paperwork.
  • Follow COVID-19 safety protocols.
  • Attend orientation with your NextStep employer partner.
  • Ask your mentor if you have any questions!

Phase 4: First 90 Days of Employment

You’re still part of the NextStep family after you start your job! Your mentor will be right there with you for the first 90 days you’re on the job.

  • Communicate daily with your supervisor to ensure early success.
  • Arrive on time to work.
  • Stay in touch with your mentor.
  • Enjoy your new CNA position! You did it!

Note: You must complete a minimum of 90 days with your NextStep employer partner.
